Host advantage against AI

Post by Peter Why »

If I'm hosting a network game against another human, with AIs involved, I can see all the AI titans, as they are set up under the HOST when the teams are being added. This gives the host (or the human team, if it humans vs AI) a potential tremendous advantage. Is there any way of keeping the AI titans hidden until my titans scan them in the normal way? Does this happen in WS?

Both no. Its not possible to host a network game with AI on the host without seing the AI actions. There is a trick though. you can start a second instance of the game on the host and connect or you connect with a different computer which is on a LAN.

Thanks, Larkin. Could you expand on that method a little, please? (Do I need to install ToS in a second folder, etc.)

Didn't try it for a long time. You should simply start a second game and select join game with 127.0.0.1 as host IP.

Thanks, I'll play around with that a little and report what happens.

The team joining 127.0.0.1 should set to AI of course or you have to play it manually.
