I know they are not well liked, but just what is/was the INTENDED use of Motorcycle Regiments?

They are just there because they existed historically, and if a unit existed historically they tried to put it in the game. You can either disband them or LARP with them, depending on your personal preference.

Stuff like Recon and small scale combat duties.
