Increasing font/text size

Post by ncc1701e »

I have more and more difficulties to read the text. Is there a way to increase its size?
Otherwise, perhaps this is time to buy my first glasses.

Use the -altFont switch in the game short cut target field. It uses Lucida Sans Unicode which is easier to read as it doesn't have serifs. I'm sometimes surprised it hasn't been made the default.

I'm surprised too. With the number of old blind farts playing this game. :geek: :ugeek:  .
The new update has a new switch to increase the size a little more but it crowds the text a bit to much. But if you know what is suppose to be there it's not to bad....GP

Well I am using it but perhaps incorrectly. Here is my command line:

\War in the Pacific Admiral Edition.exe -dd_sw -skipVideo -SingleCpuOrders -cpu3 -multiaudio -deepColor –altFont -w -px1280 -py900

Hmm. That does look correct to me. Well, there is one last option. Try using -altFontSize in the target field instead of -altFont. It'll make the Lucidia Sans font one point larger although sometimes there's a bit of type overlap in some spots depending on screen resolution.

Otherwise...Image...glasses. Pipe and hat optional.

Yeah, I've been using the update for over a year, so I tend to forget. :|

As previously noted by btd64 the larger font works well for the most part, but sometimes does have issues with column crowding and long names.

At least those columns have different colored letters! That does make it a little easier.

Since the graphic you posted shows text with Serifs on the letters, it is not following -your altFont setting. I suspect you may have used the minus sign from the numeric pad rather than the hyphen from the top of the keyboard, next to number 0.

Thank you so much, I thing this is it. I can see better now. So looks like the fonts are correct. Do you confirm from the below screenshot?

That is definitely the sans-serif font. Glad it helps you.

Yes thanks a lot. I have tried twice to enter the game but I was overwhelmed. I am replaying Coral Sea scenario now with a correct font  to retry with something small to learn the game.
