Divisional sizes for Reduced Divisions a.A. (old Waves)

Post by Wiedrock »

Some of the old Divisions lose a Regiment/or 3 Battalions in late 1943.
Some of them I have highlighted in this screen, so at least affected are [OB:396, OB:405, OB:410].
As you can clearly see the Wehrmacht failed reducing the Supporting Men percentage by doing so, instead it increased! Or did it?

I highlighted the reduced Divisions. As can be seen the ingame Support Element numbers are too big, they did not change at all! Altough kicking out 1/3 of the whole Infantry (which in itself already contributes many men to "Support").

Here some calculations, which can be found in Barch RH 2/1283, page 214.
I am not claiming this number is the most exact for all of the Reduced (old type) Divisions, but it is clearly more appropriate than the current numbers.

Some quick math tells us, that 13880- ~15k = 1120Men per Division too much inside of Support Squads.
1120/20=56 SupportSquads too much.

I took note of it. I am removing them right now before releasing the next OOB update 8-)

So this Thread will only focus on the 10/1943 changes of manpower-TOEs for the normal IDs. NOTHING ELSE!

I did not find so far many more main sources regarding this. So I can for now only include what I have and correct the most obvious issues without it being perfect, just somewhat better/more realistic. I am happy to stand corrected on the assumptions/changes/suggestions I make!
With this changes and looking at the evolution over time it suddenly makes sense. Support numbers went down and a higher percentage of men was available for the trenches. Ofc this needs the corrected numbers for ID44 and ID45 TOEs to actually make sense. The nA in general should always have a lower number in Support Squads per men in the trenches, this was the idea of this whole rework!

Follwoing changes have been done in WOTE:
ID aA 6 battalions: Reduced Support Squads (539 to 483) for TOEs OB:396, OB:405, OB:410
ID aA 9 battalions: No changes made (all Divisions varied a lot, won't touch them without further info).
ID nA 6 battalions: Reduced Support Squads (475 to 460) for TOEs OB:465, OB:466, OB:467
ID nA 9 battalions: Increased the Support Squads (475 to 514) for OB:468
...and yes, there is a increase! If you look at the earlier TOEs with 9 Battalions you have 539 Support which then leads to 514 with adjustments to manpower efficiency with the nA TOEs.

As said only the normal Infantry in here. Static, 17th wave, Jägers, Gebirgsjägers, Luftwaffen-Feld...et cetera I make separate Threads when I find the sources/time/patience to do so.
