Modable?

Post by Guz »

I assure You it won't be Me doing it, just curious if others can do it? Also, any early favorites on what battle/theater will be next? Laziness prohibits Me from sifting through older threads for the answer ;)

Here is what I know users can do:

(1) There is a map editor. So, users can make their own maps. Others on the forum can better address what can be done with the map maker. So, I am not sure if the user can change the properties of various terrain (ie. define things such as desert areas or jungle).

(2) There is a scenario editor.

(3) I am not sure if players can develop their own estabs (definition of units and TOE), but the existing estabs can be used freely in the scenario editor.

(4) Terrain graphics can be modded.

(5) The game has various BMP and WAV files. So, I suppose various cosmetic aspects can be modded.

What exactly would you be looking to mod anyway?

Once HTTR is out I'll resume work on a 'Crete' scenario. I've got the full OOB's and force dispositions ready and waiting but I'm having some problems with the maps - at least getting the fully detailed ones to make it authentic.
Thankyou for using the World Wide Web. British designed, given freely to the World.

Guz,

All map graphics and sounds are modable. In the MapMaker you can edit the values for each map layer, including their name, movement and combat effects. So if you like you can create your own map of Guadalcanal and change polder into jungle, heide into savannah, orchards into rubber plantation etc. You can then in the ScenMaker create a new scenario using your new map with it own graphics.

The only limitation is that there is no ability to create or edit the force Estabs. These are the building blocks used to make up the units. So you will have to use an existing force type, eg US Abn Div.

We have added an extensive number of new Estabs to HTTR. These primarily are British and German West Front 44 estabs and US Abn 44 Estabs. For our next game "Battles from the Bulge" ( working title ) we will be adding the rest of the US Army 44 Estabs plus the German VolksGrenadier Estabs. For the game after that on Normandy we will add in Canadian, Polish Armour and maybe some Free French Estabs, plus an array of the British "funnies".

It's a big job doing the Estabs. So bear with us as we work our way through the various forces.
