TiDavis (axis) vs MCHarg (allies

Post by Tidavis »

After a few years of not even trying I'm giving it another go. First turn went rather well with a few Polish units just melting away from the Germans. Poland surrendered on Sep 28 and I was a bit surprised at the mpp that was looted. I guess the formula changed a bit.

Two early to tell what strategy my opponent is going for. Hopefully I have a surprise or two in the works.

Good Luck to Matthew! and myself of course!

Well the war has not started well. Poland fell the second turn. I had tried swapping the Polish army down to Warsaw while I surrounded it with other unit. Still did not hold.

Moved the BEF into France as usual. I have never tried not doing that. Maybe I will try running a game against the computer and see what the result of not sending BEF to France is.

Best of luck Tim! (I guess....)

Turn 4 was pretty uneventful with the noticeable exception of a British (?) destroyer getting the ick along the North Atlantic convoy route. German forces continue to move west in preparation of the spring offensive.

No progress in China at all.

Waiting and more waiting...

The naval battle is heating up. Scharnhorst and Gneissinau are now scrap at the bottom of the sea. I forgot what I sunk but the exchange was in favor of the allies. Ground forces are still reaching jump off points the invasion of the west.

Absolutely no progress in China at all. Still bringing in forces from Manchuris but it's gonna be a slog there before anything breaks loose, if ever.

The French fleet bravely sailed out and took most of the losses so that the Allies could get rid of the two heavy German ships. Not much going on in France yet. China a stalemate.

Die angriff im westen hat beginning!

The low countries have all fallen. My Panzers have entered northern France and Lille now is occupied. One of my subs ignored the carrier that attacked it.

My raiders got about 35 mpp. Not bad for this time of the war.

China? fergitabbotit. :(

Overall a decent turn.

Yes, it was too decent. I thought the North Atlantic was in good shape after sinking the Battle Cruisers. I guess that was too early an estimate. Good turn for the Axis.

Last two turns , the advance to Paris continues. A german army is due north with all the Panzers covering the flanks. Stukas are positioned in range for support for next turns attacks.

So far, 1 French army and one corps have fallen to those same panzers in addition to the French engineer unit and surprisingly a French tank corps with AvT 1.

Both Italian tank units have bypassed Lyons and have a clear path to the south of Paris. Two corps of the BEF seem to have gone missing.

Interesting...

Paris, LeHarve, Chalons, Nancy, and Belfort fall to the Germans. I lost the two Italian tanks but northern France was left wide open. Both French HQs a Inf corps and the heavy tank was killed.

France has fallen and I went with forming Vichy..

Time for the allies to react.

Last few turns have been uneventful except for me losing an Italian cruiser to a sub near Tobruk. AK Inf and Recon made it across the med and will probably engage the Brits next turn. Greece started up. The greek hq took a hit. Germans are headed east.

Wait and see. Loose lips sink ships!

I threw the kitchen sink at Nanning, No luck. Got the Chinese corps there down to 1 point before the attack petered out.

Just what does it take?

Valentines Day massacre in Belgrade. Feb 14 , 1941. The city and the country of Yugoslavia fall to my jack booted thugs from teutonland.

Panzers arrive in Greece to give Italians a boost. Last I checked, Russian mobilization was in the high 50's. So I will have time to get my forces in place .

My opponent is winning the naval war but that is to be expected. North Africa is a holding for now.

China? Again, where's that?

Now the jack boots have moved south to Greece. Two panzer units just outside of Athens. I can't imagine I will last long. China still going ok. North Africa strangely quiet. I am worried I will see the Africa corps in Russia. Surely Germany will not attack their good friend the Russians will they? :-)

Greece fell a bit too easy in my opinion. But every rose, ya know, Too make sure it fell speedily, Athens had to occupied with an Italian infantry unit. Thus giving Italy the mpps from the nation. Those IMO would have ben better giving to the germans.

China is a mess for me. Nothing will budge.

Well the Japanese moved their assault north where I did not have an AA unit. They promptly destroyed one of my armies. Unfortunately the Chinese can only buy 2 AA (until the communists come in), so I am stuck responding to where he attacks. This is pretty much the way the game works in China.

Russian is nervously eyeing the border. It sure seems like there are a lot of Germans there suddenly.

Another turn and another Chinese army bites the dust. I now have a plan for China. It probably wont work but hey, somebody said planning was essential, right? Right?? :D

Welp, China turned back into a quag of quagmires. NA is still holding out. Ritterkreuze with golden schnitzel clusters for the Afrika Korp Infantry who have taken everything the Brits have thrown at them.

IIRC the date is October 24 of 41. My Panzers are one turn away of striking Volgograd.

First winter in Russia. Things aren't going so well now. I am not looking forward to the counterattack. Spring time looks iffy now.

Wait and see.

War comes to the United States. Phillipines will fall next turn. Manilla has been cleared but not occupied. Hong Kong Brunei and Sarawak ar next on the agenda. DEI will be a bit of a problem.

Chinese losses are finally starting to mount. 3 armies and a corps i the last 4 turns. Chengchow has been occupied. Rostov has been surrounded but probably not for long. Have been eliminating a soviet shock army the last 2(3) turns. That's gotta hurt mpp wise.

No matter what. This is the furthest I have ever made it in a multiplayer game. At least i'm not going backwards.
