Tournament mechanics

Post by Peter Why »

I'm setting up a tournament team for the first time .. which is taking a while (8 jocks!). I have a few questions:

The jocks stay unchanged from match to match, and the team receives no DP, cash or titan reward after a match, right?
Are team members killed in one match revived for a later one?
Similarly, do damaged titans need to be repaired or do they start the next match untouched?

The initial cash has to pay for the jocks and their titans. If there's cash left over, can I buy new titans later? Can I modify existing titan designs?

And just for clarity,
leadership in the first jock is useful when recruiting the others,
business skill in buying the initial titans,
and damage control is only of use for the individual jocks during a battle ... right?

Thanks.

Right.

"Are team members killed in one match revived for a later one?"

Yes.

"Similarly, do damaged titans need to be repaired or do they start the next match untouched?"

No repairs required, special squad titans are always in perfect condition when you start a new battle.

"The initial cash has to pay for the jocks and their titans. If there's cash left over, can I buy new titans later?"

Yes, and you can always add more cash to the squad by recruiting a new jock with the MONEY/#(amount) name and callsign.

"Can I modify existing titan designs?"

It works the same way as with regular squads as far as I know.

"And just for clarity, leadership in the first jock is useful when recruiting the others, business skill in buying the initial titans, and damage control is only of use for the individual jocks during a battle ... right?"

In 1.4, yes. In WS, Leadership also affects the new Bravery trait, which can have an impact on a jock's skill checks.

Right, assuming you used up all DPs you had available when developing them for the first time.
Yep, they're pretty much immortal. ;)
You don't have to repair them, they show no damage.
Simply put, the squad file is not updated.

Yep, no rule against that. If you don't like the titans you chose, sell them and buy some others. As for refits, no one will know if it's a refit or an original ;)

In v1.4, that's pretty much it (for tournament teams!), but business is good for each and every titan bought, not just the initial ones.
For custom teams, it's not so simple. They do have other benefits.

In WS, they have plenty of other benefits:
Leadership modifies the jock's bravery, business modifies upkeep and transactions in the factory too (refits), business and damage control both modify salvage.
