Help me understand these supply numbers?

Post by Tanaka »

5 in a town but 9 in a fjord? Why are fjords such great supply areas?

Ports provide up to 10 supply at sea.

Yeah, the "9" is in the water for Naval. The "5" is for the town on the dirt.

You don't want your ground units in that spot.
Then again, test it, if you're that curious.

Ah yes I see. But I was looking at this from my air force perspective. I get 9 supply putting my bombers in the fjord?

Probably not 9 supply. Although both land-based and naval units can enter a fjord hex, (just not at the same time) land or air units usually get a low red number due to the lousy terrain. Naval units will get a high green one if it's close to a port. You have to wait for the turn after you move a unit to a location like this to see these dual supply numbers show up.

Ah much obliged! It is a shame you have to risk moving to low supply to see what the supply is going to be for the air unit!
