Destroyed air squadron...

Post by grisouille_slith »

Hi all
In my PBEM game against RIC, one of my PBY squadron was destroyed when Ric invaded Canton Island. Is this squadron will come back? I don't see it in the group renforcement sheduled.
I have a another parent squadron that is destroyed too. The 2 detachments squadrons are still on the map, but I can not build back this squadron. How can I do that?
Thank you

Bring up your INTELLIGENCE screen (i).

Then click "Aircraft Losses" button on the upper right.

Then click "List destroyed air groups" button at the bottom.
Scenario 127: "Scraps of Paper"

If the detachment squadrons exist, they should become the parent in turn or two. Then they take replacements to get to the TOE (usual rules about aircraft replacements apply).

I don't think that the air detachments become the main part of the air unit, I know that fragments don't. As far as I know, only the ground unit's fragments have one fragment become the main unit. That said for ground units, if a ground unit being sea transported as all of its transports sunk, wait until the rest of the task force reaches a port because there may be survivors that were picked up at sea. That way, those surviving fragments become the new unit instead of being lost if the unit is bought back.

It appears you are right RJ, although my test was only one turn the Aussie air unit Det (2 aircraft) did not become the parent even though I flew it to Sydney and upgraded it to Catalinas. There was not enough Cats in the pool to upgrade to the full TOE of the original squadron so that may have been a factor.
