Two Points of View in Campaigns
I just read a post from Adantas that echoed some of my own thinking.
He suggests campaigns that could be played from either side.
I've been toying for a while with the idea of producing a campaign where you could play one side in one version and another in a second version of the same battle.
I had thought seriously of doing this with The Victors, and I may just do it.
What do you think, Gamers? Would you like to see that done?
I would not want to invest the time unless there is serious interest.

I'll get right on it guys. I would also agree with Drex. Some campaigns are more suitable than others.
We'll have to put in a few surprises, of course, for those who have already played from the US side, but that is life

I'll add my vote in favor of campaigns played from either side.
I would also like to see more play set later in the time frame, viz 1946 and later. Not necessarily a MW approach, rather one involving early AT missiles, F4 Phantom CAS with early A2G missiles, that sort of thing.
Just my fix on it, but definitely campaigns from either side.

There are probably balancing issues though. In the desert (which DOES sound like a great idea) it would be hard to use the same scenarios since the AI is so easy to tool. It sounds like it would work best if you crank up the force level for the opposing side for each campaign. Dunno though, concept-wise it's much cooler to be playing the same things from both sides.

I like the idea very much too, guys. I'll be on it right after the calendar rolls over. Thanks for the encouragement.
It will take some revamping, rewriting of text files, etc. and some testing. I'll keep you posted...WB

Hello Wild Bill,
I think it is a great idea, especially for "The Victors".
Also I am interested to see how you would tackle the problem of the other side. In effect, it would be difficult to have a parallel campaign for more than a couple of scenarios as winning on the other side would necessarily bring you to a different path.
Therefore, you would have to create a new campaign (with the same theme) and be able to use source material from the other only in a few cases. However these few cases would bring more depth as you probably would be able to explore more areas should the player lose or draw some battles.
Mmmh, all in all an interesting dilemma. I will be awaiting your project impatiently

Christophe

Sounds good to me. My Guadalcanal Campaign is designed to be played both ways.
I neeed your advice on how to complete the test phase then release it to other SPWAW gamers. I used slot 022 because I don't think anyone wanted that specific number.
We have finished 13 scenarios and finally edited it down to 10. Five are finished and the others should be done editing/play-testing by mid-January. What's next?
I would like for someone from the outside to help with play testing so we can do the last edits or repairs. Do I just do a post in the Forum?
After all edits and fixes, how do I release it? Do you think Tankhead would mind if he posted it on his web site?
Any advice and guideance is appreciated.

Hey Bruce,
I would recommend you simply put up a request for testers here on the forum. We have a ready bunch of very talented gamers with a good heart and willing to help.
You say "we" so you must have some folks working with you already. A team of five or six dedicated testers will be very helpful.
Let me know how you do.

Thanks WB. I have a small group of friends locally that play PBEM. They have been my critics and suggestors but their knowledge of WW2 is limited. I am looking for "experts" especially on HOW the game plays. I have made a number of personal scenarios to play but never a campaign. I want all to enjoy it.
I will let you know how we do.
