Pilot Training

Post by Vermin »

The Commanders Report, AIR/PILOTS shows (under +Train) the number of trained pilots added to the pool each turn. This is a fixed number set in the scenario? These are allocated according to the pilot priority of the air unit (TPI/PRI etc)
If there are enough planes of the right type in the pool, and the air unit allocation is set to Normal, it will get any left over trained pilots, and then fill out with untrained pilots right? Assuming there is enough total manpower for the whole crew.
Is there some way to confirm whether this is happening? The available pool of aircraft doesn't seem to be going down as much and as quickly as expected. Also, is there a way to force a unit to downgrade so it can access a large pool of unused aircraft and free up its own aircraft to the rest of the airforce?

It looks like any pilots in reserve don't do anything.
I had for over a year 1.000+ and their proficiency remained normal instead of superduperelite ...

The only pilots that train in the reserves are those under 50 experience. Once they reach that level they stop. If you are to get higher level quality pilots they generally come with the guards units and late war as the National Morale increases.
