Naval support

Post by LGKMAS »

Okay, working on the gtrand campaign. Not sure how or where to use naval support such as 2nd US Engr Amphib with 200 naval support points to their name.
How do I use them?
Are they kept on board ship, i.e. providing extra landing craft for the amphib TF? Are they best landed and therefore provide extra stevedoring support to offloading on the beach?
And what does 200 naval support mean? I saw somewhere in the manual that they cannot increase the overall load/unload capacity of a port. So a port of 3 level can still only unload a max of 11250 cargo a day. But what does the 200 points mean? Does it mean the overall rate of load/unload at the port or beach is increased by 200 points across all categories, i.e. troops and cargo and fuel? So if used as an amphibious unu=it, does this mean APA/AKA unload at 3200 points a turn rather than 3000? Or does it apply to AP/AK who unload at 600 a turn so helps them unload at 900?
The manual is rather unclear on this!
thanks in advance.

Land them. They are generic dockside workers and increase the speed at which ships unload and load. Best used in small ports or for amphib ops.

Hava look at 6.3.3.2.4 Ship and Port Load Ability Table, 6.3.3.2.5. Port Load Rate Adjustments and 6.3.3.3.1 Normal Unloading. Basically they increase the rate at which a ship unloads, 10 points per NS so you 200 would increase the rate for each ship by 2000 each day.

Thanks for that.
I had suspected they needed to land.
But 200 per SHIP? That seems awesome. I will start looking at all my units to see if they have Naval spt. I think the UD+SN BF have a naval support section.

Ins't the naval support unload bonus per PHASE? Should give you additional unload of 2000 points AM and 2000 points PM per ship.
