Is it easy to increase the technobabble and naming

I previously went on a deep dive into modding for Homeworld2 years ago and it was fun. I was thinking about a dive into modding DW2 as well for some very simple tweeks. Before I get too deep into trying to learn, I wanted to ask the community if how easy it would be to do a couple of things on my wishlist.

1. Increase the technobabble of the research tree.
I like sci-fi explanation of technology. For example, the tech behind the difference between torpedoes and missiles and why each has their characteristics.

2. Renaming the mineral resources to common names.
It would be nice to change some of the resources to familiar names like Titanium, Deuterium, Neodymium, etc. You know, things that actually exist on the periodic table.

Can these be done easily without too much fuse? I don't want to spend months trying to learn things only to figure out I can't accomplish it.

For number two, you just need to tweak the Resources.xml file. It's no hassle, since all other files refer to resources by their id code. The only other thing you'd need to change are their descriptions in Galactopedia and events that relate to them, but that last one might not be so easy, since some things are hardcoded.

For number one it would be more difficult. I'm not sure how the game creates tooltips and how you can edit them to include descriptions. You could create events that trigger upon completion of a research and use it to explain what the tech is.

That's an interesting approach. Perhaps a 'tip' when the research is complete.
