What does the Angle Change do?

What does the Angle change commands Alt-F5,F6,&F7 do? To me it doesn't do much, just a little streching of the map.

Its tilting the map by some degrees, enhancing or reducing the 3D effect. Its just a small detail for players to choose.

I too can not seem to see what is changing. All it seems to do is add a border at the bottom of the screen, but it does not tilt the screen to better see height.

This would help as I much prefer the 3d terrain, but it is really really hard to tell what is elevated and what is not (as opposed to the old alt f1 style).

THe general rule is that the terrain gets darker as it goes higher.

I'm planning on eventually embarking on a complete topographical (topographical, get it? :D) modification which would include reversing some gradients to make low altitudes darker and high altitudes lighter. Just to see what it would look like. Probably crap, but I'm curious like that. :D

No small amount of effort would be required to do that though, and I'm still having way too much fun channeling my effort into playing the game at the moment.

I had some problems recognizing elevation when I switched over from 1.4 too, but I'm quite comfortable with it now. Being able to get hex info with a mouseover is invaluable for areas I'm not sure about.

Thats a great idea. You never know when something small, like that, might make a profound improvement.
