Can a veteran pilot improve an air group?

I have squadrons of Kittyhawks at mid 30’s experience in Australia. If I request a high mission, hush experience, high air veteran (even one), will he improve the training rate of the group?

Does he have to be the leader to do that?

Individual pilots within an airgroup do not impact on speed of learning. Unit leaders alone have some impact upon the operations of the unit.

What have observed is when I have experienced pilots in a training unit, it increases the average number for the specific skill or experience and the pilots tend to gain if they are not more than 5 points higher than the average. That doesn't mean that the pilots with higher numbers than that can't increase because they can, but it seems a lot slower for them. I also look at the fatigue level for the pilots so those with the higher experience ratings have little to no fatigue but the ones who boost their numbers have higher fatigue. So I tend to have 8 "experts" for those American Army fighter units training to increase their Air skill but not when I am trying to increase the defense skill, sometimes the 80+ experience people are there trying to improve their defense rating as well.

Ii notice the same. Especially when I play the allied side I try to have 1-2 pilots with exp in the group. I have the "feeling" that all other pilots will improve "better" then air groups with only untrained pilots.
