Sounds

Background sounds and music work. Sound effects are muted? All movement and combat sounds are silent.

Hmm, I presume they are turned on? They should be under Options I think.

Going to sounds folder some of the sound icons won't play. I get a message : "we can't open 0explosion2. It uses unsupported encoding settings" 0xC00DB3B0

A bit odd I've never had this problem before though it has been some time since I've fired up the game.

I may need to breakdown and install Windows 11 as the 10 Media player may be at issue.

Are you using the 2.30 UPDATE?

If you are, make sure the SPEED is set to default speed (also under options).

If it is set to something else, it will kill the sound (as sound is related to have fast something replays)

Glad to hear you got this sorted. Our sound files are based on OGG codec by Vorbis, an open-source royalty free project. Very popular at its heyday. Windows Media Player might not support it by default. These days, you don't necesarily see it that much anymore.
