So, thanks to the developers for all they do and for giving us an update on what's up with the current state of the game: and THANK you for working so hard to fix it. I love this game and have been playing it and CMANO for a long time...until the last half year or so.
I've got some free time coming up and I want to play and with my micromanage style of play, I'm tired of waiting for the next patch to fix something that drives me crazy, only to find another issue right away and have to stop and wait again, etc. So I have questions about how to get back to a version of the game I can just play again without getting so frustrated:
1. I think I'm done with STEAM. There is still no way to roll back from there, correct? I've got the disc around here somewhere and unless I hear an opinion that it's a mistake, I think I'm going to shut STEAM and its constant updates I don't want anymore until I know there are no new worse bugs, down. (I don't even remember why I started using STEAM when I had the disc anyway anymore). Or is there an easy way to roll back to an earlier version via STEAM that I've missed on the boards?
2. I'm fairly computer illiterate, so are there any tricks or anything I should know about if I do a clean install from disc but DO NOT want to get anywhere near the last several official updates?
3. Am I correct to take from the current discussion that 1328.8 is as far back as we can go?? Or is it easy to go back even further?
4. I see some say 1328.17 is the best to go back to, and some say 1328.9 is. But honestly, I can't remember when I was playing frustration free...before I acquired unrealistic expectations perhaps and got cranky...but it has been a while with my style of play. Somewhere after Tiny but before the 64 bit update, I think. Does anyone have a consensus on which version that far back was best with the fewest bugs and most stable to play provided I can update only to that far back?
Thanks for any tips you all might have. Remember, computer competance isn't my bag...in fact, I'm pretty sure now that is precisely why I used STEAM for CMO to begin with...it'll keep me updated without having to do a thing! I'm done with that strategy...I just want to play this great game again. So, please, speak as if you were talking to a 5th grader. Make that a Gen X 5th grader, not one of these young whippersnappers now. LOL.
