It seems to me that laser rifles are no longer competitive because even without hyper explosive ammo and actinide tipped ammo they can't match the charged gauss rifle in terms of attacks (except firepower and a little caliber modifier).
What do you think?
The benefit of Laser rifles is that they require energy to fire, and there is no use of the logistical network to transmit that energy to the unit. Where as the Gauss rifle requires ammo, and ammo requires metal to made make it, and a the use of logistical points to get to the unit. Which unit design is better, will be situational dependent.
