Initial Japanese Research Attainment/Investment

Post by ziploc01 »

Hi,
I feel that the Japanese should commence play with level 1 achieved in amphibious operations to reflect their previous experience in China or at least one chit of investment in the area.

This is tricky, as the benefits it provides would require rejigging starting dispositions and supply levels to ensure no one can go too far.

Instead we have adopted the approach of setting everything to enable Japan to achieve what it historically did, and if it wants to do better/go further, then it will need to invest in research to make it thus.

Hi Bill,
Thanks for the reply. That makes sense for the opening moves.

BTW I have enjoyed playing the "Day of Infamy" campaign very much so far. Certainly as the Japanese (Custom Expert, +20%, +0, +2) I found myself by late 1943 increasingly in firefighting mode resisting the allies on several fronts and wishing I had made some different choices re MPP spending earlier in the game!

Thanks for all your efforts.
