TF leader's air skill and floatplanes

Surface Combat TF, its leader has high naval/high aggro skills.

The TF has several CAs with four floatplanes each.

Thus, is there any benefit in selecting a TF leader who also have a high air skill? Does it influence floatplane operations?

I doubt the Ship or TF commander has an effect on FP ops, but the guy in charge of the FP detachment might.

My understanding is yes. Any TF with aircraft will benifit from having a leader with a high air rating as they are deemed ic of air ops.

My question is why bother as the the only thing known for certain about air HQ leaders is they improve the chances of more aircraft flying offensive missions. Search and ASW are not offensive missions and only require one ready aircraft to carry them out and you can't reduce that. If your using them for offensive mission, well that's another story.

Ship commanders play no part in air ops unless they are also the TF commander.

FP Air group leaders operate as they do for all other aircraft types.
