French surrender conditions

Post by sveint »

I think they are a bit too harsh/strict. Historically they surrendered before Paris was fought for and it was an open city.

I think taking two production cities should be enough?

Also, the extra turn before the surrender takes effect where the French can make lots of suicide attacks is annoying and unhistorical.

Historically they surrendered with Vichy June 22, 1940. If you look at a map where the Germans were they occupied all of the top half of France. The surrender conditions are based on this situation.

Conquering France should be a bit harder. The benefits of conquest out way the detriments.

As for suicide attacks. Yea they suck but they don't do much damage and give the Germans experience.

The problem with making it easier is that players will then roll through Yugoslavia and Greece even more easily...and possibly even Spain.

I don't consider France that hard but many players struggle as they do not rotate their troops well enough and save their armor.
But that is the nature of the game.

Others hit Yugoslavia and Greece in the winter...which should probably have some negatives to prevent it.
