Torpedo angle miscalculation: Interference with land

Post by thedoctorking »

The calculation of torpedo launch angles for the manual launch interactive does not take land into account, as in this example:

The Russian CA is trying to drive through the peninsula and is stuck up against the land. But the torpedo angle calculation is not taking that into account and is trying to shoot it as it crosses the headland.

A gameplay suggestion: you really ought to have a mechanism for manual torpedo launches where the player can set the angle and speed based on where they think the enemy will be.

What this means is that when an enemy is up against the land like this, you basically can't engage them with torpedoes. I got those destroyers really shot up in order to get them in an ideal position to launch against the CA and now they can do nothing other than shoot HE at him from their popguns.
