A few bugs...

Post by PrinceMiskin »

1. Dresden is not marked as a FS objective on the map, yet I got a message saying that Union is celebrating its victory.
2. How come the Apache raid me for every turn, even after I conquered them?
3. I can rail move armored trains. Don't think that's intended. :-)
4. We can't reformed destroyed cavalry divisions.

As of patch 1.04 here are several new towns on the map that provide a Union boost. Dresden is one of them. But they're not marked on the map.

- Union will receive 1000 FS when each of the following are captured: Baton Rouge LA, Fredericksburg VA, Jackson MS, Little Rock AR, Shreveport LA, Staunton VA, Fayetteville AR, Arkansas Post AR, Corinth MS, Decatur AL, Murfreesboro TN, Dresden TN, Williamsburg VA, Culpeper VA, Meridian MS

Shouldn't the map also reflect the changes for better transparency?

Yeah, you'd think. But I don't know why.

1/ Dresden is showing as an FS objective for me:

The text will disappear once the town has been captured and the Union receives the bonus, as after that point it has no additional FS benefit (beyond the standard 5pts a turn every occupied town is worth)..

2/ The Apaches hadn't settled at this point in history - while they did have a few small towns, merely capturing these wouldn't be enough to "conquer" the tribe - the warriors just scattered into the hills, continuing the fight from there.
This is exactly what happened in history too - the US government was still fighting the Apaches into the 1880s

3/ It's not not intended. ;) I am aware of this and am happy to leave it in the game, the other SC titles allow this too. It makes sense - rail moves are equivalent to putting something on a train and sending it off somewhere else at max speed (and with two week turns, getting from the east coast to the Mississippi or so is quite reasonable). An armoured train doing this just means you don't need to find a new locomotive.

4/ I've checked the code, nothing has changed there. Destroyed units can only be reformed if they die at supply >5. Or you could be confusing Cav Divisions with Cav Brigades, which cannot be reformed?
