[OLD DB] Scenario Editor Bugs

Post by MadogLlewellyn »

It appears many Scenarios don't allow for editing of aircraft...aka I can't change types of planes on carriers and escorts!? I can't seem to see any settings that would restrict that... Or am I missing something?

Scenario in discussion is Bay of Bengal, 1972... I'm trying to match the ships to authentic loadouts... Gearings couldn't carry SH-2D Seasprites lol.

As to the Gearing issue...how about a rundown on what you are actually doing...LOL.

Is it that you couldn't get the SH-2D on the Gearing or it shouldn't carry it?

Is this the scenario?

According to the wikipedia the class ported a helicopter-drone, DASH that is included in the database.

I cannot do it either, well could one time, but cannot do it again (add the DASH after removing the helicopters)

I was able to get it to work after doing a deep rebuild to update the scenario to DB508. Need to do a deep rebuild since the scenario is old.

Using the DB the scenario comes with (DB470) it wouldn't let me add them to the gearings.

Just to close out...

Squadron-Signal lists that Gearings lost the DASHs in 1969 and in limited cases SH-2s were used. It would appear only one could be used due to hanger size. I had no issues loading SH-2Ds in a clean scenario.

Yeah I was just trying to modify the scenario to reflect a realistic force layout... The Gearing Class couldn't operate SH-2 the landing pad was only designed for the DASH and was too small to recover anything bigger.

So the crappy thing is I have to rebuild the whole thing using a more updated database. LOL. ... It's funny how that glitch doesn't always seem to have this effect.

Thank You for the Help!!

FRAM 1s had the capability to handle SH-2s as I said. But there was only a year between the last DASH going away and the Gearings being sold off, so only a very few did it.

I'd also point out that this is a very old scenario built by a community member. The risk of any community-built scenario is exactly that. In fact, Bay of Bengal was built in CMNAO. Players should have some expectations that a number of these scenarios are not maintained and are played at their own risk. My suggestion is find the author and reach out to them for an updated version.

btw...I checked and the scenario is over six years old, not even part of the Community pack, built on an very old db, and actually built in the old game. Expectations that you can take that and just start monkeying with it without doing anything are way off. Its why the db function was created. Rebuilding the db is VERY easy and takes 10 seconds in the editor. Again, its why the db rebuild feature was created in the very early days of CMNAO.
