BUG: Boskaran heavy breeders (excessive growth rate)

Post by Nyku »

Hi all,

I would like to submit a possible bug:

Yes, the Boskara have possibilities for higher growth rates, than other races. Yes, I am playing a Quameno Geniocracy and the difference is especially steep between those two.

But I witnessed growth rates on their plates as high as +50% - can't find a savegame for that, though.
The one I attached, once you let it run a couple of days, ultimately comes to a growth rate of around 38% on both planets visible to me. (Elsaid and Sosthenes) - On Sosthenes, thats around +4M population per ingame day.
Even when I bombarded the planed, the growth rate still was around +33%.

I will copy the saves and reinstall the game to check whether it's an issue with my installation.

Best regards

I switched races to Boskara to take a look.
Is that the intended outcome of "hive mind" +50% pop growth during war time?

I mean: both plantes are at 20 happiness pop-level + colony growth funding + "hive mind" (not taking into account ressources and leader traits)

I assume, you can reach that high numbers in these cases, but daaaamn...
+15-25% for hive minds during war time would then be more than sufficient, wouldn't it?

Maybe this is more a post about adjustment of a hive mind mechanic, then. But also, maybe you can find something in the save, that I can't.

Did you happen to take a look at the funding levels of the Boskara faction? Did they have a lot of funding put into colony growth? What were the sizes of colonies you witnessed this high population growth?

Colonies with populations closer to maximum capacity should have lower population growth, whereas planets with plenty of capacity based on their size can have quite high population growth.

Funding levels were 0%/100% when I switched to Boskara, as that's what it was set from my Quameno faction I assume.
Home planet was hovering around 16% growth rate, whilst the newer ones, being at a pop level, for which the game sets taxes in a way to maintain 20 happyness, had the higher percentages.
So overall it seems to be baseline working as intended then... but the growth rates are at a level, you cannot compete with - based on Hive Mind at war time + high native Boskara growth rate.
If you cannot find anything weird, then its supposedly more a balancing issue than a bug.
