Help!!! - screen resolution

Post by pfnognoff »

Hi, I took my PC on my vacation, but I forgot to switch the resolution back to 800 x 600 before I left, and I now have a 15" monitor that doesn't support 1024 x 768 and UV set on 1024 x 768. When I start UV is reporting that it can't initialize resolution. Do you know any way I can switch resolution without entering the game itself?

I hope there is a switch or something, cause I forgot to pack the install disk also... If not than PM will hold for another week! Damnation.

Thanks,

Branko

In the root of your UV installation folder there is file "uv.prfs". It
contains all settings you can adjust inside UV GUI (Graphics User Interface)
and, thus, I suppose it also hosts the resolution.

Just delete that file and see if new "uv.prfs" will be created with default
800x600 resolution.

Perhaps this can help you (if not I will look inside registry - perhaps
resolution settings are there)...

BTW, having just 800x600 means that you must have some very very very old 14
inch monitor... ufff... :-(

P.S.
It's great to see someone else from Croatia apart from Oleg and me... :-)

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Did that, and it works. Back to invading.

It is 15" monitor that my girlfriend is using for word processing. It's smaller, so I took it instead of my 17", I just forgot to switch the resolution before leaving.

The funniest thing is that I knew this would be a problem, I just forgot to switch it before packing :D

I am glad that it worked...

BTW, the 15" monitor is supposed to have 1024x768 (In fact
I never saw 15" monitor unable to support that resolution).

Check refresh rates and adjust your windows OS to current 15"
from your original 17" one.

I am 100% certain that your 15" can do 1024x768 in at least 60 Hz...
