Factory Repair Question

Post by Dereck »

If I have 3 factories in a city (Factories A, B and C) and I have one or more sapper-engineer brigades can I direct them to work on just one factory first by setting the factory I want repaired first for priority repair?

Thanks

Sounds reasonable and like something Gary would have added, but I can't remember if Gary has the priority indicator for an item mean that it gets repaired first over other damage at the city. Does anyone have experience with this?

in the city menu klick on the damage to one factory and it asks you if you want to spend 1 AP to priority repair. Don't know what this function actually does, at least it places an Asterix after the damage

Unscientific test:

Test City #1: Nizhny Tagil

3 Engineer-Sapper Brigades assigned to city

#1 Before After
7* 2* Armaments Production
7* 2* T-34 Chassis
7* 2* T-34 Chassis

All 3 Engineer-Sapper Brigades still left

#2 Before After
7* 2* Armaments Production
7 4 T-34 Chassis
7 4 T-34 Chassis

1 Engineer-Sapper Brigade left - 2 send elsewhere by the AI (which I didn't want)

#3 Before After
7 4 Armaments Production
7 4 T-34 Chassis
7 4 T-34 Chassis

2 Engineer-Sapper Brigades - 1 send somewhere else

Test City #2: Kuybyshev

2 Engineer-Sapper Brigades assigned to city

#1 Before After
16* 9* IL-2 Airframe
16* 9* IL-2 Airframe

2 Engineer-Sapper Brigades still left

#2 Before After
16* 9* IL-2 Airframe
16 13 IL-2 Airframe

2 Engineer-Sapper Brigades

#3 Before After
16 13 IL-2 Airframe
16 13 IL-2 Airframe

NO Engineer-Sapper Brigades left - all sent elsewhere

Test City #3: Tbilisi

4 Engineer-Sapper Brigades assigned to city

#1 Before After
13* 7* LaGG/La Airframe
13* 7* LaGG/La Airframe
44* 33* Heavy Industry
48* 36* Heavy Industry

4 Engineer-Sapper Brigades still left

#2 Before After
13* 7* LaGG/La Airframe
13 10 LaGG/La Airframe
44 42 Heavy Industry
48 46 Heavy Industry

1 Engineer-Sapper Brigade still left

#3 Before After
13 13 LaGG/La Airframe
13 10 LaGG/La Airframe
44 42 Heavy Industry
48 46 Heavy Industry

1 Engineer-Sapper Brigade left - 3 sent elsewhere

Since I micro-manage repair it looks like having a sapper-engineer brigade per factory set to priority repair will keep the engineer unit in the city repairing the factory or factories that I want repaired.

Not using the priority it seems they disappear though they could be going to other places with priority set that doesn't have an engineer unit so I will have to make sure to take the priority off unless I specifically assign an engineer unit to the factory or railyard.

I do have a question about Airbases. Each turn I have to go through my Engineer-Sapper Regiments and Brigades (which are all assigned to STAVKA) and unassign units when there is more than one assigned. They mostly seem to be assigned to Air Bases. How do I keep that from happening so I can have Brigades repairing factories, Regiments railyards and airbases and battalions in Army HQs helping units create fortifications?
