Difference Between Steam Version and Matrix version?

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could cast some light/guidance on the difference between the Steam version v1.12.07 and the listed Matrix version v1.04.01? Are they different? I was thrown a bit by looking at the Hobby General video on youtube by his completely different (and far better looking) UI and task bar at the top; causing me to wonder what version he is playing and why my Steam game looks completely different. Any advice is sincerely appreciated.

1.12.07 smells like WitE (1), not the current WitE 2

Bloody hell! you might be right! I thought I had updated WITE2 ages ago .... oops
