The Where Eagles Dare drinking game

Post by Neilster »

I believe the classic WW2 movie Where Eagles Dare is a Christmas staple in Britain. Quite right too. Anyway, if watching and so inclined, here's a WED drinking game. Sorry about the poor quality. It's the best I could do with a small image.

Warning: If you follow the rules religiously, you'll be...err...blitzed :P

For those interested but who can't stream it, I appear to have found it online. A direct Google search limited to videos over 20 mins found endless reaction videos and "making of" documentaries etc. So I tried alternatives.

I don't want to give a direct link in case of copyright issues but if you happen to find yourself on archive.org and click on movies and search for "Where Eagles Dare" and scroll down a bit, you may find it ;)

It seriously is an absolute classic and its making is quite a story.

Edit: I added the bit where you search for the movie on archive.org

The gondola in that overwrought movie poster with the big swastika emblazoned on it kills me. Ahhh....the sixties. When Hollywood art directors assumed the nazis slapped swastikas on everything. I always thought you could make a good drinking game from everytime you see a swastika displayed in the old Star Trek episode "Patterns of Force". Either that or every time someone gets called a Zeon pig.

In a similar vein, the "Sweats" or men's pulp magazines of about that era are hilarious. They usually had lurid covers, with scantily clad, busty damsels in bondage being menaced by baddies. These morphed over time, starting with criminals but after WW2 often had Nazis and Japanese in over-the-top scenarios. Later you get Commies of various kinds and then bikers, who are often wearing Nazi regalia.

BTW, the poster above bears little relation to the plot of the movie but I suppose it got bums on seats.
