New scenario for testing: Pukul Habis 2027 Chapter 12 - Heliborne Engineers

Post by Transient »

Scenario:

Pukul Habis (Total Wipeout)

Malaysia and Singapore go to war in this unthinkable scenario of all-out conventional warfare fought in the Malaysian state of Johor. - A book by David Boey

This scenario is fully based on David Boey's book Pukul Habis. It follows Chapter 12 of the book.

Due to a series of unfortunate events and decisions, Singapore and Malaysia have mobilised their military assets in preparation for war.

Singapore's armored assets are currently built up on the north east and north west of the island, awaiting the signal to proceed with an assault up north via an amphibious crossing of the narrow strip of water separating Singapore and Malaysia.

With Singapore's small size size and consequent negative strategic depth, Singapore decides to strike first...

Briefing:

Commander,

As you know up to 60% of Singapore's water supply is sourced from Johor, through the PUB River Waterworks facility.

With commencement of hostilities at 1700Z, it is imperative that we secure the PUB River Waterworks facility as soon as possible to ensure our water supply from Johor isn't tampered with.

The commando teams under your command will hold the facility until our conventional forces can push past Kota Tinggi and relieve them.

Satellite recon over the past few days confirm no heavy vehicle deployment near the facility.

However, given the buildup of hostilities over the past few days, we must assume the Malaysians have prepared some defenses.

They know full well how important this facility is to us.

The tactical advantage we have is that we have the initiative.

With the entirety of the RMAF's jet fleet having relocated to East Malaysia under the guise of Exercise Paradise a few days ago, and our G550s monitoring the airspace in that direction, the RMAF fighter jets are not expected to be a threat currently.

Your Commando Teams 1 to 4 are embarked on H225Ms Ruby 1 to Ruby 4, with Flight Aspen consisting of 2 AH-64Ds as escorts.

Your orders are to secure the facility with 90min of commencement of hostilities.

That means the commandos and engineers have to be feet down in the Waterworks facility by 1800Z.

As our previous exercises show, we need a minimum of 2 teams to secure the facility.

If less than 2 teams manage to secure the facility, Singapore's water security is at serious risk of compromise and the mission will be a failure.

The 223rd Singapore Artillery is currently deployed at Simpang and will be conducting interdiction fire missions.

Whilst they are not directly tasked in support of your mission, the AH-64D escorts may request for artillery support from them as required.

Note that a NFZ (No Fly Zone) is marked on your map for airspace deconfliction with the outbound artillery fires.

Plan your insertion and egress routes around the zone.

Singapore's security depends on you.

Good luck.

Thank you.

Another nice little scenario. Singapore will conquer the world, and this is just the start! :)

OK, no points given for the units own or enemy losses, I suppose that is intentional, just for the mission?

This scenario displays what we see in the Ukrainian war every day, the low survivability of the helicopters vs MANPADS, so they fly very low, though not very useful in CMO anyway.

Thanks for testing the scenario Nikel!

Yes, points were only given for getting teams successfully into the Water facility, and deducted for Apache losses as I recall.

During my playtesting, I got better results flying above the cloud cover than flying Nap of the earth.

Thanks.

Lost one Caracal after the deployment of the troops, but the Apaches survived.

The helicopters have problems detecting the MANPADS, the one that shot down the Caracal appeared from nowhere when they were RTBing.

What is the Heron UAV doing parked in the airport? ;)

I was wondering if I should give the user a better chance to detect the enemy SAM teams during playtesting.

In the end I decided not to go ahead.

In the book 1 Apache and 1 Super Puma was lost during ingress, so you did good. 8-)
