Question - Aircraft Engagement

Post by tmalloy »

In the user guide, "5.2.14 Ammunition Restrictions" states: "Targets are divided into three categories: soft targets, hard targets and air targets." This implies that the options we have to control engagement ranges versus hard and soft targets do not apply to aircraft, correct?

For example, if I select a unit and manually set the engagement range of hard and soft targets to something like 50m OR set the SOP to HOLD for hard and soft targets, this has no effect on whether a unit will try to engage any enemy aircraft in effective weapon range (and line of sight).

The question arises because I want to stop my AA units from using up ammo on ground targets, but I do still want them to engage aircraft without having to manually toggle SOPs or range limits whenever planes show up.

Yes, the engagement range settings are not used for air targets.
