Bug? US surrender

Post by El_Condoro »

The game timer says it is 6 turns until the end of the game (1939 WaW campaign) and the US has been invaded by what seems like millions of Axis forces. Washington stands alone for one more turn but the US NM is so low that the US surrenders anyway.

Now this is the weird part:
All US units are removed from the map (east and west)
All Axis units are eliminated from the US territory (east and west)
All US resources revert to US control
The US may purchase all of its units
The US NM reverts to 100%
A single 4-strength US corps is in Seattle to defend against the Japanese invasion in the west (I assume this is a unit.txt script event)

Australia (Canberra) has not been conquered, so the campaign continues.

What just happened!

It's the surrender2.txt script that has caused this: it is set to have an armistice, instead of a full surrender, and all units are removed from the territory. I would have thought it should be a full surrender.

Code: Select all

{
#NAME= The USA Withdraws From The War
#POPUP= <<TAG_26>>
#IMAGE=
#SOUND=
#FLAG= 1
#TYPE= 1
#AI= 0
#LEVEL= 0
;Set global variable condition to always trigger (dummy value)
#GV= 1[1,100]
;Set link value to always trigger (dummy value)
#LINK= 383[1] <== THIS SCRIPT CHECKS IF US NM IS LESS THAN 1%
#COUNTRY_ID= 115
#RECIPIENT_ID= 115
#ARMISTICE= 1 <== SHOULD BE 0?
#REMOVE= 3 <== SHOULD BE 0?
#TRIGGER= 100
#DATE= 1939/09/01
;Set variable conditions:
;1st Line - Germany politically aligned with the Central Powers and not surrendered
#VARIABLE_CONDITION= 45 [1] [100] [0]
; dummy condition position
#CONDITION_POSITION= 0,0 [0,0] [0,0] [0] [0]
}

No Idea on what happened.

But a general observation

On Allied countries Surrendering IE - If the Axis decline Vichy France then, France gets extra units in NA. OK I don't have a problem with that but France's NM goes up to 100% ????? It should go up to 50% max if the home country has been over-run. If anything the local population mainly Arab would be looking to overthrow the French not rallying behind them and even French units wouldn't have a moral boost back up to 100%.

Like wise if the UK surrenders. Ok if the Royal family escape to Canada that would have been a boost to NM in Canada, Australia and New Zealand. But India, Egypt + other colonies and arguably South Africa would have seen the majority of the local population becoming more hostile to British rule. So the recovery of UK moral worldwide would not have jumped up to 100%.

I think this needs looking at and reflecting in the game more, especially after the nerfing of the Para units. Which make the chance of doing a "All of France" or a successful "Sealion" by the Axis a near impossibility.

So anyone trying it should be rewarded not penalized as the situation is now by encountering super units especially French units in NA plus the French navy still operating (but with the 100% NM boost).

As the additional time it takes (Especially against Super units v Axis units in low supply) and the delay to the invasion of Russia needs to be balanced out IMO

1) I was Axis
2) Germans/Minors/Italians had Washington D.C. swarmed like Robert E. Lee
3) Japs had LA, San Diego, San Fran
4) Germans had South, Central America
5) China, England, Russia were out of the game
6) USA morale dumps
7) USA withdraws at the end of my turn
8) On my next turn, Japanese units returned to Japan from what I could tell (didn't count them)
9) German/Minors/Italians in USA ended up in South America, Mexico, and some in Spain/Portugal
10) USA got all their land back, but didn't appear to have any troops
11) Germany was still at war 100% with USA
12) Germany/Minors/Italians invaded USA again w/o needing DOW, lol
Slaps issued: 16 - Patton, Dana White, Batman, Samson. Medals/Salutes given: 6, warnings received: 11, suspensions served: 4, riots: 2.
