Version difference

So if one player uses the 27.2 and the other .26b, what are the potential problems and is it at all possible to play? Especially in the long run

You are asking for trouble. Imagine putting a Ferrari engine into a VW Beatle. Sure it might work ok, but at some point...

There will be sync bugs. So you both should be on the same version....GP
