Post here to meet players for PBEM games and generally engage in ribbing and banter about your prowess.

Looking for Japanese opponent no.5

Post by Leandros »

Hi, guys!

My present opponent experiences some wear and tear due to the increased complexity of the game as the war intensifies and expands. Only today he expressed a desire to be relieved of his duties if possible, due to various reasons. Here is a link to my "Rookie II" thread. Please see bottom page 36:

I do not blame my Australian mate, he has been extremely reliable but he, as opposed to me, has a regular job and family to consider (well, I do have family, too, but, I believe, with perhaps a somewhat lighter load). I have therefore promised to look around for a replacement for him.

With this I put up an offer to those of you who would like take over the Japanese side of a WitP PBEM which has reached March 13th 1945. You would be my 5th opponent (yes, I have worn down four now) - the last one has kept up the longest, several years, actually. We have generally finished the turns within one day each but this has never been an expressed demand.

If any interest, I shall establish contact for you with my present opponent, I believe he is the best to give you a run-down on the general situation in the game and how the Japanese side stands. Enough to say is that the Japanese have upheld a marked superiority in carriers and capital ships through the game and have scores of very experienced fighter and bomber pilots, something I have not taken seriously enough.

Burma is more or less dormant but there is fighting on Java, Sumatra, the southern tip of Mindanao and on the east side of Borneo. Allies have control of the Marshalls.

An opponent of some status would be appreciated, to honour my previous opponents, all of which have been marvellous.

This is your chance to turn the tide for the proud Japanese nation - even to eventually be nuked!

Line up, boys!

Hi, everybody, I was not able to get Dili aboard due to disagreement on a house rule - fair enough!

So, there's still an opening for opponents who want to save the Empire from a dismal end! No house rules, though - hasn't been any for all these years. I think it has worked out fine.

I might be interested in this. UK timezone. Generally I can do one turn a day, but it might take a bit longer at first as I absorb what is going on.

Which scenario, software version and map are you using?
