Another Arty question?

Korsun Pocket is a the second game using the award winning SSG Decisive Battles game engine. Korsun Pocket recreates the desperate German attempt to escape encirclement on the Russian Front early in 1944. The battle is a tense and exciting struggle, with neither side having a decisive advantage, as the Russians struggle to form the pocket, then try to resist successive German rescue efforts and last ditch attempts at breakout.

Another Arty question?

Post by Pawlock »

Can Arty units from other Armies support each other, ie say 5 Guards Tank Arty support, 40th army and vice versa, etc?

I believe so - clicking the "Next Arty Unit Button" should cycle through all arty units in range capable of joining the combat (page 32 rules), much the same way that air support in general is abstracted - ie: not Front dependant.

The combat advisor will also highlight all units of course too to verify this.

Pawlock this is true. Artillery (or any unit for that matter) is not committed to supporting any particular units or group, and may be freely used if within range.

Actually this brings up an interesting idea for someone using the editor. How about if artillery and/or supporting units were designated using the 'divisional integrity' code so that they recieved a benefit for acting within range of each other? Interesting concept...
