Data links and added sensors

Developing a NATO side, I have a number of UUV's who I added towed sonar arrays to. Do I need to add Link-16 or other data links for the contacts these UUV's detect to be used for targeting by other units (say a helo)? I know this is a basic question, but I am in LUA hell writing about a dozen scripts and haven't play tested this yet.
