Anything detect the Golden Horizon in Iran Strike Scenario??

Post by DWReese »

I've been playing around with the Iran Strike 2024 scenario. I've used various setup options, and I successfully fire all of my Golden Horizon ALBM toward the 3 S-300 units around Tehran with no problem. Strangely, all of them go undetected, and strike the targets without ever being sighted, much less challenged.

Is there any unit in the set up that should be detecting them? I have every Iranian radar on the map set to active, but they never see anything. Watching from the Iranian side, I only learn of the attack when I see the S-300s being damaged.

If this is how it really works, then Israel can strike Iran whenever it wants, or at least until they run out of Golden Horizon missiles.

In my test the Rezonans detect them.

I think the Ghadir should also do, because they are the same. DB error?

The Najm-802 PESA incorporated in the Khordad-15 SAM battery will also detect it, but much later, near the target.

In performing upgrades, it seems that the Iranian RESONANS was replaced by the GHADIR radar. The GHADIR does not appear to be able to detect anything, but the RESONANS can. It works well. I'll have to retry the attack and defense, now that it can be detected.

The NAJM also can pick it up, if it is within 250 miles.

That said, none of the S-300s will fire. It indicates that there is an error. I believe that someone else reported this about a month ago, but I wasn't that far enough along in the scenario to have experienced it.

More "too late and useless anyway" detections.

The Ghadirs are not ABM and Space Search capable, that's my guess as to why they are not detecting ballistic missiles. Looks like you're correct that it's DB error. I'll try and get it in for DB513.

Some other oddities with the Ghadir, it's a 2d radar while the Rezonans it's based on is 3d.

Thanks for the explanation and for fixing it.

Another minor error I think is in the dates:

Rezonans-NE OTH Iran, 2019

Ghadir OTH-B Iran, 2013

If they copied the Rezonans, the date of the Ghadir cannot be previous to acquiring them.

No idea if it is right, but in the russian wikipedia (no english version available), Rezonans-NE, the export version for Iran is named directly Ghadir.

So remove completely the Iranian Rezonans or the date before 2013?

It is probably more a discussion on Github but I found this after a google search:
Ghadir radar – stationary OTH (Over the Horizon) radar used for early warning. Apparently, this is a joint development between China and Iran based on the Russian Rezonans-N radar, which Iran purchased from Russia.
The deployment of the Ghadir radars and their experiments apparently began around 2012 and continued for several years. Various statements indicate that Iran has deployed at least eight radars of this type so far.

So my 2 cents would be to keep both. They started with Rezonans-NE and moved to Ghadir.
And even Sepher, but that is a rabbit hole :o

Posted it in another thread, the location of 11 Ghadir radars is known, detected by Samir.

I think the ongoing Operation Rising Lion could be proving how effective the Golden Horizon is.
