Are the JTCS Help Files available at all?

Post by dudalb_slith »

The in game help files do not work. , I click on them I get either no action or a pdf could not be found message or a windows does not support this format message..
I just installed the game on Windows 11. maybe that 11 does not support the traditional Windows hlp file format has something to do with this.
Are these files the unit rosters and others, avalble outside the game? And I keep on hearing there is an updated manual, but never get a donwload link for it.

"Microsoft strongly recommends that software developers discontinue using the Windows Help application. Software developers who ship programs that rely on .hlp files are encouraged to transition their Help experience to an alternative Help file format, such as CHM, HTML, or XML."

CHM is outdated so HTML is probably the best update. I know very little about help file processes.

FWIW, I searched and found a website that includes conversion software and instructions on how to integrate the converted files with programs such as C++. Not sure of the cost BUT they offer a FREE 30 day trial. I think someone with JTCS programming experience could convert all of the old files in less than a month. ;)
