Sim performance issue

I am seeing a [similar to this] issue when running any scenario as soon as I (or the other side) fires cruise or ballistic missiles. The game grinds down and never recovers (even after all of those have impacted and are gone). I am forced to play at them maximum compression and it takes between 5-10 seconds for each second to tick off in the game. Turning off memory intensive things make no difference.
