[Fixed][1728.2] Class-identified contact goes back to side posture when manually marked as otherwise

Post by lumiere »

This happens only Build 1728.2 Beta, but not previous Build 1676. Please try the both.
Though it may be intended behavior, I report here anyway as this is not in release notes.

Side Player to Side Hostile - Posture Hostile
Side Player to Side Neutral - Posture Neutral

No Exclution Zone.

After Start, E-2 (can identify aircrafts by NCTR mode radar) will take off, next Hostile fighters coming from north, Neutral airliner from south. F-16s in patrol mission will take off after 30min.

Build 1676 - After fighter are identified by class (image/DB link in Contact Status panel are available) and marked as hostile, you CAN still manually mark them as neutral to exclude from target of patrol mission or vice versa for neutral airliner. This technique is quite useful to ignore decoy attack or avoid wasting ammo on dying unit.

Build 1728.2 - Identified contacts will keep side posture. Even you mark Side Hostile fighter or airfield as neutral or other postures, they get back to hostile in a second. Same for Neutral side.

Thanks!

Hmm, adjust the "collective responsibility" option under side options and see if that changes the behavior

Just fyi, there's a known bug already fixed for next release regarding to collective responsability and units reverting posture

Sorry for the inconvenience

Is this solved in 1774 o 1776? I don't see anything in the changelog related to "collective responsability"?

I ran your test scenario and the hostile red aircraft stayed neutral even through combat until they fired on the F-16s. At which point they became hostile. Is that what you are looking for?

Yes, this should be fixed.

Take into account that this depends on collective responsability, if it's true, you'll mark the full side as hostile/unfriendly/neutral...

I'd like this setting be a player decision rather than a scenario designer one since as you mentioned, it is very useful to ignore targets that are not worth it.

Thanks for the heads up. Tested in build 1776, worked as I desired when you turn off the collective responsibility (in 1728 turning on/off CR had the same behavior - BTW, you can set side posture also from "Game" main manu). You can tag this thread as resolved.

As for "I see him as neutral but attacked me!!", yes. As I mentioned in first post, if contact is neither potent or immediate (quote from Harpoon II guide), I mark hostile contact as neutral on purpose and tell mission-cotrolled units to ignore it. This is not the case against incoming fighter/missile.
