Diplomacy points

After learning i can now use diplomacy screen.

One thing yet does not yet make sense. How to get influence points. it says its down to my production. But does not go further. can someone explain how to exactly gain influence points and based on what about my production?

Such as do i get 1 point per? what? or over certain timeframe?

#! I strongly suggest not using diplomacy to influence countries. That should only be used in human to human games where both parties agree. Using this will throw off the game balance.

#2 gaining points is a matter of time. You have a chance to get it each turn based on production
