Rammed, and no torpedoes bear?

Post by thedoctorking »

I think the arcs of fire for torpedoes are too limited. Here's an example: CL Pisa was just rammed by a French BB, range is 0, Pisa has torpedo tubes facing in all directions, and yet none of them bear.

Also, "friendly ship in line of fire" should not restrict you if the friendly ship in question is sinking.

Submerged tubes? Assuming they are intact, sounds like the crew didn't get the information they needed to snap a shot off, or your ship was too fast in the approach stage or several other reasons.

Submerged tubes yes, we were moving pretty fast, but the information on the manual launch window says "out of arc" for all tubes. Doesn't seem possible, the BB is a whole lot bigger.

Done some research and found the following:

Submerged tubes have a limited arc of fire.

It seems the standard mount would be angled at 20 degrees towards the bows in order to have a chance of scoring a hit from a broadside position.

German torpedoes (not sure about other nations) could have their gyros adjusted for a further +/-15 or 30 degrees after leaving the tube.

Bizarre as it may seem, it does indeed seem that the enemy BB managed to keep out of torpedo arc!
