Empty unit counters when rising OHQ tank brigade

Post by StrategosAcademy »

Hello,
I would like to report a bug.
In SHQ I have many tanks available, and I raise a new OHQ Light Tank formation using the SHQ units.
An empty brigade appears, so a full brigade with 0 sub-units and counters showing 0 without a unit name.

Context:
A round before, I disbanded 2 tank battalions and downgraded the 1st Assault Infantry Brigade to Light Infantry brigade, so in the SHQ next round, I had +150 tanks. 50 were already there.
gamesave file attached.

How to reproduce:
In the Flint capital city, create a new formation, OHQ, Light Armour Brigade, include all units from SHQ.

There's enough ammunition and food.

The replenishment of food, fuel, and ammunition for SHQ units is not mentioned in the formation creation window.
If I add the 90 tanks, only 4 are created and appear in 4 of the formations, but no units from SHQ are included in these formations. The resources used correspond to the 4 new units and only to them.
This may be because the base game was version 1.26j3.

Interesting. Thanks for posting the background.

You are short of IP, even for 90 (9x sub units). So only seeing four appear checks out.

But every other resource appears to be present.

The interesting part is I'm never quite sure whether troops in SHQ 'standby' are carrying loaded weapons or not. My belief is they do not, and that any ammo the sub-unit may have had before being relieved to SHQ is returned to either SHQ inventory or zone inventory. Then re-issued when the sub-unit is deployed.

I'm not sure of this, but building a unit directly to SHQ doesn't require ammo. Calling a unit using the 'replace units' Unit dialog does. A sub-unit can be built in (or 'at', or 'directly to') SHQ and then transferred in to an existing unit, and then that existing unit will have an ammo deficit. Is all this right?

Formations are created only with sub-units with full ammunition, or they or the sub-units are not created at all. Sometimes a formation will be created with an incompletely filled ToE or roster, even though the required sub-units are in the SHQ. When I see this happen, I assume vaguely it is because some *supply* resource is lacking, usually ammunition in my case, or maybe logistics points... then I make the adjustments manually. tbh its a little janky ;)

But you have everything the new formation could possibly need right there. Except IP. And IP shouldn't matter when us SHQ reserves. (As long as those reserves are regime regulars; militia shows up in that screen as well.)

looks like a bug, and yes, maybe version related.

Thx! Its cause to rough rounding due to extreme circumstance of each OOB part only getting 1 tank of a specific Trooptype-People type. Making fixes. This will also fix many other rare errors ppl might have had but not reported.
