Overloading at Army group level

Post by JJhill »

For German player: As there are four levels of command for the Germans, does it really matter if you overload your army groups or even armies? Especially on defense, when you do not use Assault groups. I know Assault groups don't work if you overload. If you have good leaders at Corps level at each Corps all around the army group, it would be safe to say there aren't many rolls that will slip to the higher command, making overloading not that severe. In my current game, I have heavily overloaded one AG and many Armies, but my Corps are at the limit or below with good generals -> Ordnung muss sein. Are there any other disadvantages of overloading besides leader rolls?

I could be wrong, but I thought even being 1 CP over for an Assault Army or Front eliminates all the benefits which accrue to such designation. As for non-assault, I believe there is a proportional loss in rolls and other maluses for being over CP.

The game is quite complex and despite excellent documentation; not even developers are aware of every nuance buried in the code.

Myself, I try to just follow intuitive rules that would make sense in RL and rarely try to calculate the exact percentages of anything. It is good to know the mechanics, but I found min/max equations reduces game immersion. But that's just me.
