Boac (base id 651)

Post by Yaab »

All these years I have thought Boac was an island next to Luzon. Its US base flag hovers in the middle of the hex where the small island is, yet Boac is actually a port on Luzon.

Boac is politically part of Luzon but it is physically located on Marinduque Island in Tayabas Bay, just off the island of Luzon.

Well, I have noticed I can give any LCU on Luzon an order to move to Boac and the unit will go there. It seems Boac is "physically" on Luzon land mass in the game.

Also, any TF set to patrol Boac set and having Boac as its home port, will be fuelled up, since fuel will move automatically to Boac from other Luzon bases.

Artistic license. As it is you can move into the peninsular from Altimonan. If you made the hex an island you could not. The other choices are to not include it at all or redraw the map so the base and peninula don't occupy the same hex.

BTW, whoever was responsible for the original Tracker base-region definitions didn't include Boac in Luzon region.

BTW, Boac being on Luzon changes Allies' tactical situation there a bit. Whenever you have a small ship (xAKL, AVD, sub) with supplies bound for Luzon, you can actually unload it in Boac and the supplies will automatically migrate to Manila/Clark Field/Bataan from there. No need to unload in Manila or Bataan directly.

Thanks for pointing that out, mid 1943 and never noticed. Fortunately its a very small base with no resorces so has not had any inpact. I've just edited My Tracker regions.
