Mortain 7-9 August 1944 10 Turns

In the early morning of 7 August 1944, the German launched Operation Lüttich, a panzer force attacked the narrow front held by the US 30th Infantry Division.
The German objective was to seize the town of Mortain and than advance to Avranches and cut off the US Third Army.
The German forces participating in the offensive were depleted from the bloody fighting along the Normandy front line and great part of the 1st SS Panzer Division was still 15 km away .

Nevertheless, Hitler wanted to attack on the morning of 7 August because the entire area around Mortain was covered with fog and so the Allied lack air support but this was both good and bad for the Germans as the fog helped the defenders and rendered the advance very difficult and full of ambushes.

The ambitious Hitler plan ended in disaster after only two days because the take-off of Allied fighter bombers, completely stopped the German advance and nearly sixty tanks were destroyed.
All the Luftwaffe aircrafts, which were to control the airspace in this area throughout the Lüttich offensive, were destroyed directly by the Allied aircraft, even before they could reach the area of the battle.

Enjoying this scenario very much. The only minor issue I've noticed so far is weather temperature 9 and forecasts of cold seems unusual for August in this location.
Will complete current play through as US and then run from German side.

Good scenario and an enjoyable play from both Allied and Axis sides. AI speed was set to slow and AI difficulty set to challenging. No obvious bugs encountered (the weather issue was noted previously).

As would be expected, Allied side (major victory 21VP) is a bit less challenging than Axis side (Allied minor victory 78 VP). AI seemed to react well to both enemy movement and attacks. However, as was the case historically, operational success is dependent on controlling river crossings. This scenario represents that well.
The Axis AI seemed to struggle when human Allied player continues to block or destroy bridges.
Allied AI protected river crossings well and shifted resources in response to Axis movement. Axis AI seemed to attempt to move and shift to alternate attack avenues but may have been limited by available fuel.
I was pleased with how the AI played each side. It's difficult to fault the Axis AI when fuel/supplies are relatively limited and air power is nonexistent.

If possible, it would be interesting to see the AI help difficulty setting split into separate adjustable movement bonus and combat bonus settings (sliders maybe?).
**Or, the addition of AI help setting for adjusting Power Points/officer Command Points bonus available to AI.
Just a thought. (Note; current balance of the game seems good when compared to historical outcomes).
Overall, very enjoyable scenario and will play again. Would welcome any additional content or DLC for this great game.
Thanks,
G
