Escape from the No escape Zone

(consciously not posting on the tech forum as this is more a question for my understanding; might move there with attachments if suggested.)

I am noticing that it is not uncommon that 4th and 5th gen a/cs to manage escaping head on shots fired in the No-Escape-Zone (that is my WRA instructions at least) about 40-50% of the time. Is this WAD, or are the current calculations of NEZ shots more forgiving than they should be. When I read "no-escape-zone" I tend to take it literally

If the aircraft has very good situational awareness, this can happen.

We have observed that calculations for the NEZ must be more accurate.

It is possible that your side detect the enemy A/C but cannot clarify them. When the shooter releases the missile, the target was cruising at 480kts. So NEZ is calculated based on the assumption target can only fly at 480kts max.

^ This can certainly happen. The NEZ logic makes assumptions as to how fast the target will turn tail and run.

I would think assumptions about OODA, aircraft performance, enemy ID, and environment all create some variability in the real FoW most players want.
