Is there any way to get rid of the pink text?

I installed the game from my CD and then installed update v1.06.83, which I downloaded from here. Does anyone know how to get rid of the pink text? All text in the game is inside a bright pink block.

Thanks. I installed the patch, but I still have the pink text boxes. And when I finish the briefing and planning phases and click "start," the screen goes black, then returns to "regular" with pink text boxes, then goes black again, etc.

I read the thread you suggested, but I don't understand what to do. Where to change fonts? Do I need to download a new font? Well, thank you very much for trying to help.

The first thing to try is to go to the in-game options tab and click on both "set direct draw software..." and "use windowed mode" Then restart. You can also change the font in this options tab.

Don't do dxwnd until you get it looking right in windowed mode.

I went to "options" and ticked the 2 boxes you suggested. That got rid of the pink text boxes. I wish the game screen was bigger, though. Or at least the fonts. My elderly retired-guy eyes are struggling a bit. But I hate to change my monitor's resolution every time I launch this game.

Because it has been such a long time since I played, I started today with the Oil Campaign I. Slowly getting used to it!

Reading through that thread, I see that I asked a question about that app in 2020, when I was using our old computer. It sounds complicated. Or maybe I'm just old. Maybe some afternoon when I feel adventurous I will try to install it and get it to work.
