North side of Sevastopol (42,32)

In the scenario notes ' If the Allies capture the North Side of Sevastopol (hex 42,32) and occupy it with a unit,
the fortress guns of the North Side will fire on the South Side each turn, damaging Russian
units in the area' But it seems difficult, with all the forts as artillery and the trench levels. Going South seems to be better strategy while putting some units behind. How is it in tournament.
