Crash to desktop in air phase resolution

Hello!

I am back to WitW after some time off and I was doing the air campaign tutorial to get back to speed. I am getting a crash to desktop consistently, about 600 sorties into the air resolution phase. If I ask the AI to come up with the air directives instead, the turn resolves just fine. I attach the save in case someone can help me figure out what is wrong.

To reproduce: load the game and execute the air directives.

I am playing on a virtual machine (VMWare Fusion 25H2 running Windows 11) but it does not crash in other circumstances and WitE2 runs flawlessly.

Thank you for your time. I hope someone can help me pin down the problem — WitE2 is a phenomenal game but I prefer the Western theatre and I would love to go on a WitW binge again.
